Tree Pruning
Trees come in an endless variety of species, ages, health, shapes and sizes. Depending on the situation which is unique to your trees, they will need a different approach and will require different types of care. Practically all trees play important environmental roles, whether it be shade/shelter, screening for privacy and pollution, erosion control, wildlife habitat or simply providing a more pleasing living area for recreation and play. At TreeZone we have the knowledge and experience to be able to tailor our tree pruning service to achieve the most from your trees.
Upon arrival we will consult with you to find out how we can best meet your needs and enhance the trees on your property.
Pruning of your trees will cover all aspects of tree modification, whether it is thinning and crown lifting branches to allow increased light, reducing the height and width using approved crown reduction methods, or general structural or formative pruning. This will improve both the visual aesthetic of the trees and the long term form and safety of your tree assets.
As a guideline, it is recommended that no more than 20-30% of the foliage should be removed in any one year, although there are variations between species which we can advise at the time of quoting. Removing more than this will stress the tree, resulting in reactive growth to rapidly grow back, causing a dense, hedge-like branch mass to form. Not only does this look unnatural but it can put strain on the energy reserves of the tree and cause decline or death. Properly managed tree pruning will allow a well formed branching structure to develop and provide a strong and low maintenance asset for your property.
